Right This Moment...
It's funny that we spend so much of our time thinking about our time.
We set the alarm clock the night before so that you can wake up on time the next morning. We spend the next couple of hours rushing around with one eye on the clock while getting ready to go to a job that statistic say we are unhappy doing.
We then spend at least eight hours unhappily doing whatever it is we do, with eyes habitually checking the clock through out the day, waiting for the time we can leave.
Then we sit in traffic becoming more and more frustrated and wondering how much time it's going to take before we make it home. Once we get there we prepare dinner which we rush through because we have only so much time to take care of all the things we have to take care of before it's time for bed. Then, we set the alarm clock, hope we get to sleep in time, get up on time and do it all over again.
There are cultures some would call "primitive" that have no concept of time. There isn't even a word in their language that translates the word time. I don't know if that's primitive or just a form of truly mindful living.
As concerned as we are with time why is it that we fail to realize that the only time that matters is right in this moment? How are you living your moments?
If you were told you have only today, what would you do with your day? Would you you spend it looking at your watch or minding your moments?
"Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back" ~Harvey McKay~
